My quirks

I was tagged over a month ago by my good friend Heather. I've had a little writer's block for the last, oh say, 6 months. But here is my attempt at the tag. Are you ready for a little too much information? Here are the rules:

"MY UNSPECTACULAR QUIRKS"
1.Link to the person who tagged you
2.Mention the rules on your blog
3.Tell 6 unspectacular quirks about you4.
Tag 6 following bloggers by linking to them
5.Leave a comment on each of the tagged blogger's blogs letting them know they've been tagged.

1. I am not a deep thinker. One of my friends once told me that she loved to think "deep thoughts." We were 16 at the time, and she was pretty young and immature. But I'm going to admit it. I'm pretty shallow. I spend most of my time thinking about things that are not going to change the world. (My thoughts might change what we are having for dinner. . . )

2. I love a long hot bath. I have a hard time going to bed at night, but have learned that if I soak in the bath for a while, it helps me to relax. I've told Steve that when we build a house one day, we HAVE to have a big ol' jetted tub.

3. I have a large collection of bowls. Yep, bowls. I worked at Pier 1 in college and I developed a love for mixing bowls. I have at least 15 different mixing/serving bowls and I would buy more if Steve would let me.

4. I am a fast reader. I've always loved to read. I read the last Harry Potter book in about 8 hours. I've developed the ability to read super fast, but I'm not very good at information retention. Because of my poor reading retention, I also like to read the same books over and over. I have a collection of about 50 books that I have read at least 5 or 6 times each.

5. I am a picker. Scabs, peeling sunburns, hangnails, etc. I drive my kids and husband crazy. Steve has really dry flaky skin and I am constantly bugging him about scratching it off. I can't stand it when my kids have dirty ears or noses or dry skin. Lindsay had cradle cap when she was a baby and I just about went nuts. She always had flaky skin in her hair because I would scratch her scalp while she was nursing. Grossed out yet?

Just one more.

6. I would rather clean the bathroom than fold laundry. I HATE laundry. I would rather clean toilets for hours than fold laundry and put it away for 20 minutes. This is why I always have a huge pile of laundry sitting on my couch in the basement. But strangely enough, my bathrooms aren't really that clean . . .

I Tag:

Whoever is ambitious enough to try this one.

I love you, quirks and all!

My mom is a picker too. Ugh! We had a lot of sunburns in our family, and she would get so excited when we'd start peeling.

You will love your big jetted tub someday!

Ewww. Baths...hate 'em. If I have to take them, it's a shower before AND after.
Also, I think you think deeper than me ;)

I am a picker, too! And seriously, I will trade you bathrooms for laundry!!

Laundry is my nemesis as well. I HATE it with a passion. If I'm ever rich enough, I will hire someone and pay them really good money just to fold my laundry and put it away.

hmmmm you are gross Jamie!! ICK!
JUST KIDDING! That list wasn't so bad.
I would love to be a mind reader. You always seem kind of quiet and reserved. I know you have wonderful things in there dying to come out!!
And as for the tub...THEY ARE WONDERFUL! Get through this schooling thing Steve has going on and make that a priority for YOU!!

I love you! :D No offense on the eww part. Sorry foot in mouth again...ugh!
We need to coordinate times to go to the gym together. With Seminary started back this week. I have been going about 1:30 so I can leave straight from there and pick Andrew up from school.

The funny thing is John and I are both pickers, we pick scabs, flaky skin etc. Needless to say our son never has any little bit of skin, earwax, dry bugars to spare, gross huh.

I love your quirks! It sounds like there are enough of us "pickers" here to start a support group! (We'd all be hangnail and scab free!)
I'm the same way with books- I love to read and read and read but as soon as I start another book the last one has basically vacated my brain. (I'm assuming it's stored somewhere up there but the recall button doesn't work!)
I'm really glad you shared your quirks!

Hehehe...Jamie I've noticed how you like to read books over and over and it amazes me when you say stuff like "Oh you can just read Harry Potter book 6 again before the movie comes out"...piece of cake (maybe for you)! Don't forget to mention that you read Breaking Dawn in one day too!

Also, I've envied your huge assortment of mixing bowls.

And as for the cleaning, how 'bout we make a deal: you clean my toilet, and I'll gladly fold your laundry.

P.S. Sweet blog background! Where did you find such a cute background?!?! ;]

I'm with you on the bath thing. I love them, when ever I am forced to take a shower because of time restraints it just makes for a bad day. Jealous about the bowls and reading thing, seriously doubt the deep thinking thing, I'd love to pick your brain.

I too will come do your laundry and you can clean my bathrooms. I never minded so much until I had lots of boys who I swear must go to the bathroom with their eyes closed. You can come use my hot tub that just sits there. It has lots of jets that almost knock you over.

Fun...love to read these, but not ambitious enough myself.

Oh, and Jake HATES it when I try to pick his zits!

Love your quirks! I love a good bath, but I'm generally too lazy or short of time to walk down the hall to the kids bathroom to get a bath! Also, the tub in there doesn't have a good restful angle on the back. I feel like I have to sit straight up. I miss my bathtub in our old house. A big master bath complete with a beautiful tub is in my dream house.

p.s. can I come over and see your bowls?????
